January 2024

The Ellen Story Commission held a virtual quarterly meeting on Tuesday, January 9, 2024. A link to the meeting recording can be found on the Meetings page.
In partnership with the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services Region 1 (New England) and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, the Ellen Story Commission on Postpartum Depression will hosted the first in a series of roundtable discussions on the State of Black Maternal Health in Massachusetts on January 24th. October 2023

October is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month. The trauma and grief surrounding miscarriage, stillbirth, and infant and child loss have long-lasting mental health implications for parents. 
The Ellen Story Commission hosted a virtual event on October 25th where we discussed the mental health impacts of pregnancy and infant loss, kick counting as a means of preventing stillbirth, and brainspotting as a tool for healing from trauma. Check out the recording here!

The Ellen Story Commission held a virtual quarterly meeting on May 10, 2023. A recording is available on the Meetings page.

The Commission's 8th annual Perinatal Mental Health Awareness Day commemorated International Bereaved Mother's Day and took place on Friday, May 5th, 2023 in the Great Hall at the State House. We are so grateful for everyone who came out to honor the little ones who have been lost and to surround their parents with love and support. Thank you to all of the incredible speakers and vendors who made it such a special and meaningful day.
